Working with a ghostwriter
- what you need to know

Ghostwriting is one person writing in another person’s name. If you hire me as your ghostwriter, I do the writing but you get the credit.

What’s more, as the author of a privately commissioned work, you own the copyright, not me.

When you make the decision to work with me, you are taking the first step towards sending your story out into the world. Whether that is your personal story, your business idea, your self-help guide or your family history, you are in control and you have decided it's time.

Why should you hire a ghostwriter?

How does it work? Frequently asked questions

  • Fill in the contact form here with a few details. Following that, I'll send you a follow-up email with a few questions to get some more information about your story.

We will then have a chat, by phone or online, and see whether the project is something we would want to work on together.

If we want to move forward on the project, I'll send you a written agreement to sign so that we both know what's involved.

  • Once an agreement has been signed by both of us, we'll get some dates in our diaries to talk more and conduct some interviews as necessary.

All dates are flexible and I’ll work with your availability.

  • I transcribe the material, getting any more information I need from you through follow-up calls and emails, and I do any further research if its needed.

I’ll then send you the first draft of the manuscript on the agreed date. You make any changes, additions, or deletions, and send it back to me.

  • The final script will be given to you and your story is ready for you to take to the next stage.

  • I’m not an agent or a publisher, but I can give you some advice on those matters. No one can or should promise you a traditional deal, but there are so many options available these days which make the journey more exciting and give you control. With huge advances in self-publishing and hybrid publishing, there is a lot to consider, but I’ll certainly advise where I can. As part of the commissioning process, you will receive a full proposal from me as well as the finished manuscript, which means that if you do choose to contact an agent or publisher, you have exactly what they will ask for in the first instance.
